Sustainability
At Afternoon Seed we believe that bird feeders should not be an eyesore but a beautiful element in everyone's garden, most customers believe that any sustainable produce lacks attractiveness, however with Afternoon Seed that is not the case.
Our Materials
The main element of our business which makes us sustainable is that all of our tea cups and saucers are donated or second hand from our local community and school. The significance of using recycled crockery is that it reduces any unnecessary mass production and diverts materials which would inevitably end up in land fill, repurposing them for a stylish garden decor which can be used for future generations to come.
Afternoon Seed strives to make sure that our products are safe in transit from our stall to your door, therefore, we have used shredded GCSE notes in the packaging to prevent any breakages. The waste paper has been repurposed and recycled with a new intention which is to enrich the local community of the very nature in your back gardens.

Afternoon Seed also uses a non-toxic glue in order to secure our tea cups and saucers together for an unique design which both look effective and protects the local wildlife (mainly garden birds) from the traditional toxic chemicals used in metal and plastic birdfeeders. Would you buy something which would negatively impact the environment over something which preserves it?

Our Commitment to the SDG
Afternoon Seed has decided to align to two of the Sustainable Development Goals in order to ensure each element of our company is helping the environment rather than destroying it.

Aligning with the SDGs set up by the 2015 United Nations our vision echoes the UN which is striving for "peace and prosperity for people and the planet".

The SDGs we have aligned with include:
-
Number 12: responsible production and consumption.
Responsible consumption and production relates to the carbon footprint of each company and how many miles in which the different materials are traveling in order for a product to be made and then shipped out to sellers and customers.

-
Number 15: life on land.
While number 15: life on land ensures that each element of the company does not impact negatively on the life on land and helps to preserve it for future generations.

At Afternoon Seed we are passionate about the birds of our local area and we understand that it can be difficult to find food during the peak of winter, therefore, by providing bird seed in a accessible location of your back garden, birds are able to eat in style while being protected by the SDG number 15.
